well I need your peoples help here. When the body shop fixed the rust in the front and rear window frames they got rid of allmost all the studs where the window clips snap onto. I ordered a complete (front and rear) set of new clips from true connections. some of the clips are smaller than others. which size goes where? (please speacify front and back so I don't get confused). And another thing I am going to the paint supply store, and get a screw in replacement for the studs. My only problem is where to put the studs. how far apart, how far "in" or out of the channel? How do I get them just right so the trim does not stick up or not fit right? Sorry for the long post but I am lost on what to do and its making me mad http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif .

Most body shops have a tool to weld the studs back on. Call them and see if maybe they just over looked that step.

Thomas, I ordered mine and gave them to the body shop, but I believe that the big clips are for the rear and the small for the front mouldings. But I am only about 90% sure, its those Senior Moments I have been having lately.

To find the depth of the clip, just hold a molding in the correct position with it right at the top of the window channel(so it's flush with the top of the body) and with the other hand (or a helper) put the clip where it goes and you can then mark it. There are clips that are designed to be screwed in and clips that are designed to be clipped in. The Screw in ones have a loarge round hole and the others have the slot looking thing to slide over the stud. I would get the screw in type and DO IT. The most important thing with this project is to not scratch the paint that is protecting the metal! Those dang clips that slip in ALWAYS do that. So the screw in ones are my choice.
