Hey guys,
I just got my new and improved inner fenderwells at the house today. I'm building a 70 SS Chevelle street/race car and figured I'd give them a try.
I had a set of NOS wheelwells in the car, but in order to fit the Lemons headers, I would have to cut them up since two tubes on each side run outside the frame.
I ordered these just before New Years and they came today. Having the NOS ones to compare them to made things easy.
As with the NOS, the new ones are very pliable, but have a flat finish compared to the NOS ones. Also the holes that attach the wheelwell to the outside fender are just a round hole with no adjustment. The NOS ones have a larger, oval hole which makes them easier to fit and they were still not the easiest to get in.
The biggest problem I saw is that they are molded off of a steel inner mold and not the original plastic. I say this because the area where the A-arm sits is much larger than my original and NOS plastic ones. I have a set of Glasstek inner fenders too and they are also made off the steel inner.
Overall, they look to be a fair piece and are good for a daily driver, weekend cruiser or race car. If you are restoring a car, I'd think you'll need to find an NOS set.
Just my $.02.............
