have 69 malibu with 350 amd manuel trans and hei distibutor what should i set the timing to right now shes backfiring through carb have holley 650 double pumper seems to be running rich. strong fuel smell,thanks for your help

a starting point is to set it 4 degrees btdc. That's the factory setting.

Might not be your timing. Make sure all your cylinders are firing.
