Just wondering if anyone has ever removed all the welding slag from there frames. If you have please post a picture. I was thinking of filling in the gap where the frame is welded together and then grinding it down until it is smooth. I think it would make it look really sharp in the engine compartment. What do you guys think. I am gonna try it out. Its easy now that my frame is off to get sand blasted. It was like -23C when we put the frame on the trailer this afternoon

They do that a lot on street rods and it always looks great. There is nothing like a beautifully smooth chassis. I think they showed a segment on American Street Rod recently where they had the frame in the body shop and filled all of the holes and welds, smoothed everthing down and then painted it. It was a work of art.

Yeah, I did that on my frame. It came out very nice. Smooth as a baby's behind and wipes clean with just a swipe of a rag. First, I filled in a bit with my welder to compensate for the grinding later. Probably overkill in hindsight. I used POR putty after grinding down the bumps. POR silver undercoat and gloss black paint as a top coat.
Took alot of grief from my friends over being able to comb your hair using the frame as a mirror but you gotta do what you gotta do... ;)
I wish I could post a pic but I lost the account where I had them. I'll try to make an effort to get that set back up and post them.
