I heard a new one today, and would like opinions. Someone told me that an origional non-cowl induction ss hood had template markings on the under-side of it showing where cuts could be made to convert it to functional cowl induction. Is that possible, or just plain crap. I thought the air cleaner set-up in the under-frame of the functional hood was unique, and the flapper area different too. Any thoughts ? Steve

I think that's probably crap. I do know the under pieces of sheet metal are completely different. one seals to the air clearner and has duct holes and mounting features for the functioning components. but I guess you could cut a hole in the outer sheet metal and drill out all of the spot welds of the under piece and weld in another piece from a functioning cowl hood. but that sound like a bit much.

I believe the non functional cowl hood I have in my shed has the template for the flapper door, and the cutout for the air cleaner.. It may be correct.
