to prevent paint chipping at the edge of a mask. im painting my 72 ss stripes and got some chipping on the trunk.

What type material are you using(paint). Shot mine BC/CC and pulled the tape off while the black(stripes) were still wet.

When pulling off the tape,pull it back over itself so it's kinda like cutting the paint edge.
