Anyone with experience with adding push fans on the front of the radiator and leaving the mechanical one in place?

Thanks,
Dan

It helps you cool at idle, but it will probably make you run hotter at all other RPMS's. All fan manf. that I have seen dont recommend their fans be used as push fans. They block the incoming air to the radiator, and the fans barely put out any CFM compared to what they pull behind the rad.

Thanks for the response.

Yep, worked great for me! I used a pair of Taurus fans and they're wired to come on with the AC or at 195*. It should be noted that I removed my hood latch to make room for the fans and an aftermarket dryer. Smaller fans are available or you can run just one fan so you can keep the hood latch.

Work really good at idle in stalled traffic with the ac on. I have not experienced any problem with hotter temps at cruising speed. With or without them it runs 180*, the thermostat rating. It should also be noted I'm running an aluminum radiator.

It'll certainly help at idle and low speeds as it'll keep a constant airflow across the cooling fins.

According to the Derale (http://www.derale.com/faqs.shtml) site, a puller fan is about 20% more efficient than the same size pusher fan...conversely, a pusher is about 84% as efficient than a puller. Straight blade units tend to give more airflow but curved blade units are quieter.
