: Painting new clear over recently painted clear?

I just painted my car with bc/cc about 2 weeks ago. I have been color sanding a couple of areas and have polished and waxed a fender and a door. I would like to put 2 more coats of clear on it for more protection and to fix some bad spots. What do I need to do to the areas I waxed to make them ready to take more clear?

Id wash first with dish soap and then go over with a grease & wax remover prep-sol. Id prolly then go over it with 1000 grit.

make sure you get rid of ALL the wax.. You will have adhesion issues and lifting occur if there is wax remaining.. Also you may want to rough up the polished surface with 1000-1500 grit I believe..

I think the 100 and 1500 grit is too fine. Me , I wouldn't take the risk. At least use a 600 grit. And make real sure theres not any dirt or lint on the paint when you go to apply the clear. Also, if you waxed and polished the first clear just after 2 weeks from applying it I think your going to run into some problems down the road. All I can say is that the clear was to new and still breathing to be putting wax on it. The wax will get in there and do all kinds of weird S@#$. Just make sure you get all the stuff off of it before applying any new paint. Good luck..
