Another question on good parts cleaning solvent. My type of parts washer says to use a biodegradable solvent to prevent pump damage. Does anyone have any ideas on what would work well.

I was reading on the jug of Simple Green and it looked promising. Not sure in the dilution rate.

Also, I need something that won't freeze as the farm shop is not heated.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Rick

Just a thought, but if its going to get that cold you should think about a tank heater and if your unit doesnt have one try a oil pan heater blanket like to ones for semis. Good luck

Rick,

I use Simple Green in my parts washer - it works great. I have even found it to be a great paint stripper. I leave parts in there for a day or two, rub with scotch brite pads and off comes the paint. The only thing you will have to add to the Simple Green is a rust inhibitor - I bought a gallon of it from E.W.Smith Chemicals Co. I use approx 1 qt to 8 gallons of Simple Green. Here is the contact info:

You can also contact Simple Green for ohter suppliers.

As far as keeping it warm you may want to try a fish tank heater - may help solve that issue.

Simple Green was great for me as my parts washer is in the basement, I needed something that was non flammable and free of toxic fumes.

Hope this helps.
