Just have a general question about the sheet metal of Chevelles. How do most of the Malibu sheetmetal compare with the sheetmetal one would find on Super Sport models? Are there any years in which the sheemetal would differ? My question could probably be refered to the fenders/ front clip of the car, rather than the actual shell, seeing as that it would have been completly cost inefective even back in the day to run different shell sheetmetal for different trim levels of the same model car. Thanks in advance.

Hoods are pretty much the only thing that is different between an SS and a Malibu.

Have to agree with above. Aside from a different hood, major metal body parts were the same - just holes punched in different places for different trim. Some years the grille was different as well, but fenders, trunk, quarters, etc. would be the same.

1970 malibu 2 door sport coupes had chrome trim along edge of quarter and door and fenders.SS models did not, base sedan models also did not but chevy only made like 8003 2 door V 8 base models and 6119 6 cyclinder base model cars.other then this all others were same through the years except like above.an example a 1970 SS and a 1970 malibu used the exact same grill execpt SS was painted black and has SS badge while malibu was argent silver and had a bowtie emblem.I'am sure you coulda got an SS car with silver grill if you ordered It that way Instead of black?whats funny to me Is when poeple go up to e-bay and advertise parts for an SS when malibus had the exact part on the Item they got listed when It's the same.LOL

They list the stuff on eBay SS because they want it to bring more money. Everything is SS or rare.
