My "Honey-Do" list is nearing completion, and I'm close to getting back into the garage. I've done some searching, but I'm lazy.... Does anyone know of an outfit that makes good replacement 1/4's or wheel opening patch panels & wheel wells for a '64 Elky?

If not, can Wagon panels be used with success?

Thanks all graemlins/beers.gif

I never found any good ones, but that was three years ago. There were some in JC Whitney's catalog. When I called about them, I was told they were not good quality pieces. I ended up using good used Arizona sheetmetal. The current repro catalogs only show them for the 64-65 Chevelles, which are different for the El Caminos. I think the station wagon quarters would work, since they share frames.

John the wagon 1/4s fit sort of, the top of the bed area compared to the window area is where you get creative. I looked at some aftermarket and the rep said they fit ok, but he wanted to see if someone put on a set before he pushed them. I need wheel wells too so let me know what else you find.

John D,
I was in the same boat as you re 1/4 panel replacements for my 64 Elky. I took a chance on the JCW quarters. The wheel well area fits OK. I cut the panels below the body line but still need to do quite a bit of massaging (and some filler) to get it right. The lower crease behind the wheels aligns pretty well but it doesn't have quite the right shape to it. All in all, not TOO bad considering they cost $100 each. I didn't care to spend $1000 ea for NOS ones that I recently saw on eBay!

JOhn I was at a car show in KC back in september at the race track. Anyway was a guy there selling his 64 that he had just put quarters on. One side was 2Kprimer the other was just tacked welded. They looked good from what I could tell but am not an elky fan so I really didnt pay my full attention. He said that the quarter came with the body line stamped in but not fully stamped kinda half a line. Which you could see on the non finished quarter, needed some mud build up to make the line stand out. They came up to where the bed mouldings would go on the bed and half way up the sail panel. Am pretty sure that he bought them from sherman and associates out of MI, dont recall the price on them. One side had a wheel well installed and it looked pretty good, didnt see any gaps between the quarter and wheel well. I might still have the guys number if you want to call and bug him tongue.gif ...Eric

The ones from Sherman are $300/ea and are the only dance in town. I'm stepping up next month for two each for the El Camino and then sometime later for the 2dr wagon. We'll see!!!
