: New PICS of the 65
65_Malibu Oct 19th, 04, 2:57 PM I don't post much here, just lurk but I thought I would share a few pics of some recent success with the car. Complete frame off going on the third year. Starting to see some progress, which really motivates me to finish. Below is the 383 with Aluminum heads. 4340 Rods, Crank, JE Pistons. Should be pretty stout. I sprayed the Epoxy primer on Saturday. Turned out pretty nice. Not bragging just happy with a little bit of success.

question. Is that the one GM markets and it looks like the small metric pump Wayne, your correct. This is the Complete GM kit that Summit and Jegs sell. It was a little pricey but came with the water pump, 130a alternator, power steering and all brackets and bolts.
Looks like a 700R4 tranny. Leo, you are correct. It is a 700R4 out of a 90 model chevy truck. 2500 stall B&M with a lock out switch. I have this hooked to a 12 bolt with 3:73 gears and a eaton posi. Should pull hard.
I really appreciate the kind words. People that have never done this have no clue as to the work, time, and money that is involved. I have replaced both quaters with new skins, both inner and outer fender wells, and the trunk. Doing this I taught myself to weld, paint, and body work. I get tired of hearing "Is that car gonna ever run" and "why waste your time with that junk", etc. This car was a one owner numbers matching malibu. I have the original engine, trans, and rear stored away. The lady I got it from was 77 years old and still driving it. Her husband had bought it new for her in 1965. He died about 15 years ago and she just kept it.
gardman Oct 19th, 04, 9:56 PM Great going. Looks excellent. Keep up the good work!!
Redmanf1 Oct 20th, 04, 3:47 AM Much work and it Looks great.
Hi All. While you have the body off, can you tell me where the serial # are on the frame ?? I am told they are on top of the frame under the high beam sw & diag opp side over the rear spring. Can you confirm ??
David Bates Oct 20th, 04, 5:17 AM Hey 65_Malibu, looking great. graemlins/beers.gif Gotta love those 65's. You are right when you say that anyone who has never done a restoration cannot really appreciate all that goes into it. And, I guess when people ask "why waste your time on that junk" they don't really have any appreciation for the "hobby" or your passion for cars so I think the best response is one that would express your shock at how shallow they are not to understand it. :D Each to his own though. A car, to my wife, is just a tool that facilitates the many things she has to do.

Jblack Oct 20th, 04, 9:56 AM Wasn't too long ago mine looked like that. I can appreciate all the time and effort you've got into it so far! can't wait too see it when it's done! graemlins/beers.gif

kef18436572 Oct 20th, 04, 12:23 PM The numbers on the frame of my 65 were on the drivers side rear frame rail (under the trunk) on the top and outside
65_Malibu Oct 20th, 04, 3:34 PM My numbers are in the same spot. You couldnt really read them until I clean the frame up.
pages67 Oct 20th, 04, 10:30 PM Looks GREAT graemlins/beers.gif
Wish I could get to that stage.
65_Malibu Oct 21st, 04, 8:07 AM Thanks, Its took me almost three years to get to this. I bought the car, brought it home and the same day started to take it down. I wish I would have gotten to drive it some. Oh well! live and learn
