Part of the deal on the 68ss396 I am supposed to buy is the owner will hook up the heater/ac controls. I found out the vacumn control unit is not the correct one.

There is a vacuum block with 6 female connectors that slide onto the back of the control unit (with 6 male connections). The "master vacuum line" goes into the block and supplies vacuum to all 6 of the vacuum switches.

My question, what exactly do you call this and where can you get them.

The one that is in it has 9 connections and won't fit the way it supposed to.

I know this information is a bit sketchy, but can anyone help me here. I really would like to buy the car, but do need a heater, especially in the northwest and I don't want to mess with it when I get it.

That sounds like something off of a Comfortron system, which I didn't think was available in Chevelles. The Comfortron was a early version of automatic climate control. My car just has one vacuum line going to a servo inside the car that Chevy calls a plenum valve. It's to allow either fresh or recirculated air. Everything else is cable controlled. Got a picture or better description?
