Will a 72 elCamino frame fit a 70 Chevelle convertable?

Thanks
Tom

The El Camino frame is 4 inches longer. The Chevelle wheelbase is 112", the El Camino and Wagon is 116". To make it work you would have to cut out 4 inches from the center and weld it back together. I have heard of it being done, but I personally would not do it.

the rear of the elky frame sits up around 3" higher at the last about 1' of frame
it bends up whereas the coupe and sedan are straight

You would probably be better off boxing a coupe frame. Have you tried looking for a convertible frame from the other A-bodies (cutlass, skylark, etc)? They are easier to find and usually cheaper (even though they are the same).

Thanks for the replys. It is actually a 68 GTO convert. that I need a frame for. I have a good condition elCamino frame sitting in the shop. Thought I might get lucky and it would work.
