Hey There,

I'm getting ready to paint my '66 and want to keep it to the original white, or very close. The guy who is doing the car suggests we go with clear coat-base coat as opposed to the original acrylic enamel, as it will look and wear better and will be basically the same.
His paint guy said Mazda White is a very close cc-bc approximation of chevelle white.

Any suggestions? Should I go with cc-bc or stick to the original. If cc-bc, any specifics paint code recommended?

Thanks Much------Ted

Why go with a Mazda White?? Just have the painter mix the "Correct" Ermine White. Whether you go with the original Lacquer or BC/CC is a personal choice and dependent on what you plan to do with the car.. drive it alot, sunny day drives, or Show it competitively.

All my opinion of course, but whatever you decide on TYPE of Paint, don't use some other white when you can have the correct Ermine White mixed by any reputable place.

Mike's right.
I just had my '70 Malibu painted in the correct #10 code classic white using bc/cc.
Came out nice, IMO.

If you want an even brighter white use mixing base white. I beleive code #10 has a touch of blue in it.

Thanks much for the replies. Went with cc/bc and am pleased with the results. I told the folks doing my car that I wanted the original color, or as close as possible, and they used my vin# to get proper color. Hopefully it's as close as it can be. My car was painted once before, and I don't think it was the original white, as this new white (he referred to at as dover white?) is not as bright. I'll post some pics if I have a chance.

Thanks-----Ted

Hope you are happy with the end result.. it should be ERMINE WHITE if he got it right, but as long as you are happy, that is what counts graemlins/thumbsup.gif
