First off whats a good starting length for the left and right tie rod assemblys?

Second I had to sand blast my Power Steering gear box and im afraid that I got sand in the holes that hoses connect to, is there a way to get it out of there or will I have to rebuild the box? and if I have to rebuild the box is there a kit that I can get with all the seals and things?

Thanks for the help,
Danny

Before you start your engine with the power steering gear and pump in place. Run the low pressure return line from the gear down into a pail. Make sure your pump reservoir is full of power steering fluid. Just start the engine for a few seconds. Look at the fluid in the pail. Did any particles come out. Refill the reservoir and try it again. Lastly you could refill the reservoir and turn the steering wheel quickly to the right and left. Check the pail one last time. You should be OK. You could even strain the fluid through cloth and reuse.

Hook up the return line and proceed to deaireate the system.

One last thing, I recommend that you fill your system with GM power steering fluid that is available at GM dealers. The stuff at Pep Boys, K-mart, etc may be labeled power steering fluid, but it isn't the same. The GM PS fluid was specifically formulated to operate with the Saginaw power steering pumps.
