My dad has a 1998 GMC Suburban that has the original stripped down, base model tape deck in it with an empty pocket where the external "slave" CD player would go.

I want to install the higher model radio and slave CD player in it. The question is, are the harnesses the same, has anyone tried this?

I am thinking that they might be. Due to the process of manufacturing, im thinking that one interior harness is made for all model trucks. Can anyone confirm that?

Chris.

i think all you need is the harness that goes between the radio and cd player unit. most of the radios have the plug in at the back to install this. i have looked into this for my 95. the suburban kept the body the 95's had.

You can use up to 2002, IIRC, the 2003's are 2 DIN which are bigger. you will need the cable that hooks the two pieces together, I did this on our 96 Tahoe. Check out www.fullsizechevy.com (http://www.fullsizechevy.com) for more info on this subject. I am there as 021500HD.
