Hey guys, I recently replaced the sending unit in my 65. I bought one off ebay. Guy said it was a chevelle. Not sure. The guage only reads about 1/2 full when the tank is full. I compared the original sending unit with the one I bought. The throw in the arm is longer on the new one. The float also sits higher. I took pics of the two next to each other for comparison. Did I get a Nova unit or something? Or were the repops a little different? Should the arm and throw be the same?

You may have a 64 unit, they are a stand alone year. It operates in the range of 0-45 ohms. The 65 and newer are 0-90 ohms. I purchased two aftermarket units from two different vendors and had trouble with both. I then purchased one from GM, almost double the price but no problems. A little slow getting the needle to show full untill I drive a few miles or hit a few bumps. I don't know if these two were misslabeled.

From your pictures I wouls say the new one is a 64. I have replaced them in both my 65's and both look exactly like your old one.
