I ran a search on this topic and was very disappointed to see many people asking this question, and not one direct answer. So for the record, what gauge sheet metal was used in our cars for floor pans and panels?

Maybe nobody really knows, you could borrow a sheetmetal guage from a metal supplier and check it or bring them a sample. My guess would be 18 guage for the floor. Exterior seems to be thinner probably 20 or 22. :(

I don't have any floor board lying around to find out. But if any of you want to send me a small piece I will check the gauge. It will only cost you 37 cents smile.gif

The outer skin is actually about 18 gauge. The floors I would guess are the same or 16ish.
