What is the easist way to replace the body to frame bushings?? Can I do this in my garage?? Mine look kinda squished and are splitting plus i'd like to insure that the body is setting square on the frame and of a known spacing for setting up my suspension. Also what is best, original rubber, poly or solid aluminum??

I replaced mine by lifting the body off of the frame. You won't have to lift it to high. Just enough to clear the bushing.

Can you lift it high enough just by loosening the bushing bolts? Would I have to lower the steering column? Anything else to remove or loosen?

When I did mine the motor was out and front end was off. Actually the only thing I had to loosen/remove were the rag joint and the E brake cable. You should only have to move it a couple of inches.

I have done a couple of these. Be careful in lifting if you you have fender extenions that are under the bumper; jacking can break the extensions. Lift the body with jacks that have wood boards under the body and you will be fine.
For safety put a glock of wood between the frame and body while you are in there swapping the bushings.
