if the alternator is still giving a good charge, and the fan belt it not loose, why does the light stay on?

Sounds like you need to replace your voltage regulator. Change that and your problem will be solved! ;) graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I had a similar issue on a 69 Olds 442 I used to own (pre chevelle).

I changed alt, volt reg and still the light kept coming on intermitantly.

Turns out I had a short in the wire going to the light itself.

Try the volt reg first...if that does not do it check the wire.

If you're not having a problem with the battery going down a new voltage regulator probably won't help the light go out but I suppose it's worth a try.

Grandson's nova has had the light on for a few years and everything else has always worked fine.

Moving thread to electrical & wiring forum.
