A buddy of mine has a 64 Chevelle Wagon and he has been looking for a cowl hood for it for quite some time. Not a glass hood. Until now he hasn't heard of anyone who makes those, but on the recent cover of CHP and on one of the first couple of pages there are 2. He has emailed them asking who built those units. He has heard nothing in response from them. So, he asked if I would post this question here. Does anyone know where he could find a steel cowl hood for a 64 Wagon. Thanks again.

I just had to buy a new fiberglass hood this past year and searched everywhere for a steel hood and found none. I do recommend the Glasstek fiberglass hoods, very good quality and the underside frame looks stock.

I just got through installing Goodmarks metal cowl. It is basically a weld on cowl. There are two to choose from. I chose the old style. It was quite a bit of work trimming and fitting then welding it. Its all metal though and looks pretty good.

Bobcat, I was going to open this and post a picture or Brians Elcamino. Brian, ya beat me to it.I'm in the same boat as your friend. I too have a 64 wagon, posted this same question a year ago and got the same response you're getting now. ZILCH. I called Goodmark to see if a 64 cowl hood was even in the works, they told me "no" that the 64's were not popular enough go through the expense of tooling up. Man,..... that is so hard to hear. "I'm sorry sir, according to my computer and our extensive market research your car seems to be a POS (piece of sh**) and is unworthy of our consideration, thank you for calling, if you have any further questions please call 1800-----------"
Now.....on the other hand if your friend had a 70' thats a whole-nother deal. You can get those at any corner 7-11, Wal-mart, Target, etc. for a $1.49 plus tax any day of the week.
My medicine is starting to wear off thiking about this subect. I seem to burn through a perscription twice as fast when I think about what year of Chevelle (YOC) will be on the next Hot August Nights poster, what YOC will take up 5 out of 12 pictures of next years calender or what YOC the next Tech Question in the other forumn will pertain to.
Any of you 64-65 guys out there have that reoccuring nightmare? You know the one..... You're being chased on foggy, moon-lit night through a cemetary by the boogy-man in a 70 Chevelle.
It's medicine time,
Brian....I still love that picture.

It's almost as bad for us 68-69 owners. Unless you want an repro SS hood or 'glass 24" cowl hood, you're basically SOL.

Hi Max..There's no medication to strong enough
to over come the " Red Headed Step Child" syndron of the 64-65 chevvles.. If it were not for Smith at CHP you would never see any early models in the rags... OH WELL.....

Back to the shop my 64's are calling me..
there exhibiting symptoms of EMR " Early Model Rejection "
