Greetings all,
Posted this in the wagons section. Maybe someone somewhere knows this car.
While browsing the internet i came across this picture........

This was the wagon that inspired me to get one for myself. If it is the same one, it was a Hotrod magazize cover car from June of 2001.
Built for a California contractor, Dennis Smith.

Not to long after I started looking for mine I swear I saw this one for sale in the back of the auto trader. Where is it today? I would realy like to know more about how the rear A/C unit was done. Florida is prime for a nice dual air setup.
Found the picture on..

I don't know the owner but maybe Chuck (ACES1) might know. I took the photo at CB 2001 and he may have registration information on it. I have a few more shots of it if you'd like 'em. E-mail me off-line and, you're quite welcome. smile.gif

Call Dick at True Connections in Riverside,California. 1-800-600-4144. I think he built that car.

Dennis sold that car and its current owner and location are unknown. As for the rear A/C, I would think any competent A/C shop would be able to duct the cooled air off the main system (either through floor or ceiling-mounted ducts) rearward to the cargo area.

The biggest change I found in keeping my wagons cool, however, was the addition of dark tint to the windows in the cargo area.

Without it I could actually feel the heat on the back of my neck while driving down the road, since the cargo area becomes a huge greenhouse without some form of heat-reducing/reflective measures. Adding dark tint lowered the temp significantly and the original in-dash A/C system is fairly adequate now except after letting the car sit in the hot sun for hours. Even then, a quicker cool-down can be effected by lowering the driver and tailgate windows and letting the flow-through air carry some of the heat out rather than putting all the heat-exchange responsibilities on the A/C unit. Works for me!
