hi 70 chevelle put in rear control arm bushings in now ready to re install rear how tight do i tighten the bolts ? any specs? do i tighten them where they dont move?? tighten them while i have the jack under the rear?? thanks storm

According to the service manual. Torque bolts at 80 ft lb. Put a jack under the rear end so that the vehicle weight in on the suspension.

Definitely make sure you torque them with a load on the suspension. If you don't, the bushings won't pivot correctly and will wear out prematurely.

You have to torque RUBBER bushings with the axle at normal ride height.
Polyurethane bushings can be torqued with the suspension in any position.
Yet another reason to use Poly.

Yet another reason to use Poly. Yeah, as long as you don't mind suspension that doesn't work. tongue.gif
Although I HATE poly, he is correct, only rubber bushings must be torqued in the loaded position to prevent preload.
