I am using RM clear DC 92 the ratio is suppose to be 3 to 1 to 20% My question is what is the 20% of? If I use 9oz of clear and 3oz of hardener how much reducer do I use? Thanks Terry

It is 20% of the total, so about 2oz of reducer.

3 to 1 and 30% would be the same as 3 to 1 to 1,so 20 % would be about 2 ounces . Mike

I always thought my math skills were good, but you guys confused me on this one. 20% of what total? If it's 20% of the clear, it'd be 1.8 oz, if 20% of Clear + Hardener, it'd be 2.4 oz, if it's 20% of the 'total' Clear + Hardener + Reducer, you would need 3 oz to make it equal to 20% of the total of 15 oz.

It should be 20% of the 12 ounces of clear and hardener. 20% of the 12 is a little less than two and a half ounces. As I said, "about" two ounces should be added.

Of all the componants added the solvent is the least critical. You don't want to be "guessing" with "abouts" with the hardener, but the reducer, "about" two ounces is fine. 2.0 2.2 2.4 You will be right there. In fact, I would bet in the tech sheet they may even say "as much as" 20%. In many cases, this is even to keep it VOC legal and a little more would not harm a thing.

But, as always recommended by me, stay as close to the tech sheets as possible. With that standard recommendation, add 2.4 ounces reducer. smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't trying to nit-pick, just wanted to be sure for future reference.

My jobber supplies a mixing cup that takes away all the guesswork/math. Its got R-M on the side along with several mixing ratios, one of them being 3:1:20%. BTW good choice with the DC-92 nice stuff!
