hi 70 chevelle put in new sway bar bushings and new sway bar links they seem about 1/4 to 1/2 longer than old ones anyway one side is hitting bottom nut of upper ball joint the other side is back about 1/4 inch and just misses it. i dont know if it is going to hit once the car is on the road but its going to be close so do i cut the threaded part off 1/2 inch for more clearing?? the other side i dont know why its hitting ball joint nut. sway bar looks centered as good as its going to get . thanks storm

Storm the same thing happened to me on my 66 chevelle, a little bit of the bolt was close to the ball joint. After I drove the car and checked it again it had more clearence then before. I say drive it a little and see what happens.

My right side end link was hitting, and it drove the spacer sleeve right through the washer. So you'll want to fix that before it gets too bad.

Same thing on my 68.

Marked the length with a sharpe marker, removed the link, put it in a vice, cut it with a sawzall, chamfered the end, on a grinder and put it back together.

No problem. graemlins/beers.gif

Heck, if your a savage, I'll bet you could trim it on the car with a sawzall.

I've noticed some of the after market end bolts are longer and others the metal end sleeve are also longer.

I can't exactly picture this in my mind right now so I hope this isn't a stupid idea, but can you just flip the bolt over? Put the excess threads at the bottom instead of the top?

i guess flipping the bolt around would work but i dont think that would be correct. so i tighten the bolts and cut them down to give me enough clearence. thanks everyone storm

Storm,
If there are enough threads on the bolt you can disassemble it and cut down the spacer slightly,a 1/2 inch would probably do it.Or you can just flip the bolt so it points down and trim it in place.Thats how I did mine,I trimmed about 3/4 off so the bolt end didn,t hang below the lower control arm.
