: Difficult body bushings to access

I'm currently in process of replacing all body bushings in my 1972 Convertible. Most all the bolts broke off, I have no problems accessing the other ones, by going through the trunk or the floorboard, but I’m having a problem with the ones located right behind the doors, I was lucky with those, they didn't break off in my process of removing the other ones, “they were never there”. Both sides were missing. So now this leads me into a two-part question, where they ever they're originally, there is a hole there, but no bolts. All the manuals say that there should be bolts there. But I just thought it was a little odd, I can see one side or the other being missing, but both exact sides! So my second question, assuming they broke off, I will need to access the remaining bolted and nut from the floorboard, but there is a very large metal brace in the way, I believe this brace is only on a convertible, if you have a convertible you’ll understand what I’m going to try to describe. I'm no expert or mechanic but this definitely looks like a structural piece that goes from the floorboard and angles to the quarter panel. so my first thought is to cut into the brace or remove it, and have it reattached, I don't know if I like either one of those ideas. And my other problem is I don't have any tools that can cut through or remove anything that thick of metal.

Please any help with tips or tricks.

I think converts are short 2 bushings.

Now I am confused I thought they had two more. Extra ones at the front cowl area toward the inside but I think they do not have bolts.

Yes bolts belong where you discribed. Thats going to be a tuff one to fix (replacing the captured nuts). You can do alot with a "Saws All" saw.

Here is a picture of what I did today. You will need to drill out the spot welds (as many as you can. If you get lucky it will come off w/o cutting the side brace. I was not lucky. So I plasma'ed the brace down low so I could access some spot welds under it. I will have to weld the brace back later. Any questions or if you want more picture let me know.
