I want to install a c-clip elem. kit in my 69 Chevelle.I'm going to use stock axles. Is there a prefered kit to use (one you guys like best). Also will they increase the overall width of the rearend?
Thanks , Gene

how fast are you running? don't need eliminators until 10.99 or quicker.

I agree that the C-clip eliminators are not necessary. Esp for the street. I have several buddies and have heard from many others that have had leak problems with them. If you are wanting to upgrade from the c-clips I would recommend that you take your 12 bolt and have it machined so that it could accomdate the the big Ford bearing. Moser uses this style on there 12 bolt. This is just a idea. C-Clip eliminators are not neccessary for the street.

I would race a 10 sec car on c-clips before I drove a street car on eliminators. I agree getting rid of the clips is a good idea, eliminators are a bad way of doing it. Go find a rear diff shop to weld on some Ford ends and buy some new axles for press on bearngs. If you rae concerned with safety, why do it half-a$$?

Aaron you say machined for big ford bearings? Dennis you say cut off and weld on ends for ford bearings? Do different axle manufactures recomend different techniques if I go to after market axles? Also I guess I should get the axle tubes welded to the center section, can this be done without removing the gears?
I have a 69 SS396 with a good running big block in it and 4 speed, I want to get more tire and wheel for the rear so it will hook up better and don't want to break axles later. (been there done that years ago)
Thanks for the input guys, Gene

Well, machined my not be the best word or the correct word to use. You will need to have your housing worked so that the big ford bearing can go into the housing. A ford bearing axle has a large bearing at the end of the axle tube. This bearing is pressed on the axle by way of a press. Look in JEGS or Summitt, this will give you a idea of how big the bearing is. You will need to find someone who could place the rearend in a jig to properly work on your 12 bolt. This is usually a cut and weld deal.
