I know this is not a "Chevelle" but they have very similar body lines and roof sections. Anyway, I'm helping a buddy repair his vinyl top that was installed incorrectly. Seems like the bodyshop never sanded down the old paint as contracted graemlins/clonk.gif to do and then apply a good sealer. Now, it's bubbling underneath the rear window & vinyl trim along the 1/4's.

So this is where my job comes in. I have to help remove the old top, grind out rust w/40 & 80 grit, apply etching primer, apply epoxy primer.

I was thinking of using some POR15 in some of the bad areas where the rust pits are HUGE.

Does this seems like a good plan? graemlins/beers.gif

First of all, you may not need to remove the whole top. I have made many repairs on rusted rear windows and simply heated the top, carefully pulled it up, repaired the rust and then glued the top back down.
The pits are really no big deal and you should just leave them alone. You will not see them under the vinyl top. 40 or 80 grit does a poor job of cleaning rust from pits, it just glides over the top and leaves the pits rusty.
You are right on with the etching primer and epoxy primer.

Carguy, it is an GM A body, don't cast him away graemlins/beers.gif
