smittyocat Jan 11th, 04, 6:31 PM Ok so far i have 8 names from TC that want them. I will be putting them on ebay for $40 plus shipping BUT true to my word TC members will get them for what I said $25 plus shipping. TC members send me an email if you want one, due to having a real job i can only build these at night and the weekends so be patient. Sorry for dragging on I never intended to use this fourm for selling anything so please limit comments on this subject to those concerning the tools usefulness.
68Elkie Jan 12th, 04, 12:16 AM I took the pics off your website, cropped them a little to fit better here, and uploaded them to my server so all can see them. Great looking tool, but there won't be a new rear in my future until next winter at the earliest. Good luck with it.

smittyocat Jan 12th, 04, 12:23 AM Thanks a bunch 68 Elkie, I really appreciate it. Let me know when you get ready to do your rear I will build one for you.
gsrokmix Jan 12th, 04, 2:42 AM Hi Joe,
How does the tool attach to the jack? Does it at all or does it sit flat where the "cradle" was? It's hard to tell in the pix.
Thanks!

Wwalstrom Jan 12th, 04, 9:27 AM The only change I can suggest now would be to add legs to the bottom .... so you can move the fixture and take the jack out (and still be able to get it back under again).
smittyocat Jan 12th, 04, 12:21 PM The current configuration has a nut welded to the main frame and a bolt which goes through post hole in jack pad which is very stable.
70Z15 Jan 12th, 04, 12:33 PM Looks nice Joe. How about making me up a complete body rotisserie. :D
smittyocat Jan 12th, 04, 2:27 PM I could do it but I think shipping would be expensive. If you are serious let me know.
I think that's a very cool tool. Too bad all my rear end problems are resolved, I used a funky piece made out of a 1"x6" board. Did about the same as yours but after several uses fell apart...
One suggestion would be to make it a 2 piece unit with a receiver in the main section for the base of the "T". In other words the section holding the pinion yoke would unplug from the section holding the axle tubes. That way, when not in use it comes apart and fits flat in the bottom drawer of the tool box. graemlins/beers.gif
Philip Jan 12th, 04, 5:06 PM and to expand on Dennis's idea, it could be adjustable to fit other types or housings. I can save on shipping charges, I make trips to the valley several times a year to see my grandson.
smittyocat Jan 12th, 04, 5:19 PM If you got to my site there is one more pic not posted here. The whole tool comes apart into 4 pieces main body (2) uprights, and the pinion support. I credit another member with that suggestion check it out on my site (if its not down for overuse) graemlins/angry.gif
smittyocat Jan 13th, 04, 11:21 PM Thanks for all the interest. If anyone wants a tool please email me and include the diameter of the hole your floor jack's pad fits into so I can build to suit. thanks
