Hello,

I am really stuck can someone give me some advice.

I have an aftermarket tach installed on my 396 with HEI. Been working fine for years, never an issue. The unit lights up, so there is no interupption in power or anything, the motor is running fine so I don't suspect any distributer problems. However, when my tach is at 3800-4000RPM it spikes, basically the tach goes crazy, never did this before. Does this mean my tach is busted? Or perhaps there is a problem I am not thinking of? ANy help appriciated. Thanks guys!

Eric

I think it is time for you to test out your factory tach and see if it still works :D

Mine doesn't

I tried to clean it cause it was sticking at 4200...now the needle floats at 1500-2000 and only goes to 3300 graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif
