I bought a Convertable SS from an unscrupulous guy from Florida. After I got hte car I find that it has some major rust in nad through the fram. I am in need of a replacement frame or the name of a shop in the SF bay area that can fix my current frame.

Thx.

Daniel

I assume that you know the Convertible frame is different than the other bodys. Any '64-'65 "A" Body should work. Maybe even up to 67 but get a verification on that. And if you do find that the '66-'67 is different, find out why, because maybe the modification isn't that much that it would be worth it. Finding a frame is hard enough, if you could add a few years to the mix I am sure it would help a lot.

You should be able to use any convertible frame up to the '67 year. The difference is gonna come with the '67 frame where the rear springs are different than the '64 thru '66 springs. But other than that it should fit. I ran into the same kinda thing when I bought my '67 convertible. Major rust at the front support areas. Found a '66 frame off an Elky (which, by the way, should give you even more options in looking for a "new" frame)and took it to a reputable body shop just to have the dimensions checked out. You should be able to find the dimensions in a shop manual for that year. They spent 2 days just checking everything out and making sure the frame didn't need straighting. The dimensions I gave them came from a '67 manual. Everything was right on the money. The only problem I had was in ordering the rear springs, bought them for a '67, then had to return them for a '66 frame. but other than that and maybe the way the shocks mount, you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck . . .
