There is one place in South Jersey that sells 98 octane. The highest here is 94 only at Sunoco, everyone else carries 93.

93 and 94 Sunoco here. You can always get 100+ but very few places sell it.

You can get the Sunoco 104 GT+ unleaded at the race track along with the 110, 112, 116 race fuels as well. I need to make a trip there before they close for the winter.

93 and 94 here, and at a few places 112 and 116 for racing.

91 is the highest here, with the exception of the 76 up the way with vp100 in it! I like that one, but it's cheaper to have drums of 110 dropped off and mix it with pump stuff.

Swede,
If you go to the Sunoco website you can find out if there is a Sunoco station nearby which sells GT100 Fuel. GT100 is a 100 Octane fuel. GT100 Sunoco GT100 (http://www.racegas.com/gt100locals/default.asp) Go to the bottom of the page and select your state then click on GO.

100 octane pump gas just up the road from me. Sunoco station at Rte 202 & Rte 1. Haven't bought any for a couple of years though. I will have to drive by and check the price, used to be about 2X cost.

Hey My442ragtop,

Does the aircraft fuel still contain a higher level of oil, versus the local gas-station pump fuel? I remember when we use to get it, (back in the mid 70's) we had to mix it.
By the way, we have 89 to 93 here in NY.

Fred.

The thing that you have to understand is that in Scandinavia (and maybe Europe in general) they rate the octane differently. I am not sure exactly how, but I think that they only measure Research Octane Number (RON). In America it is rated by the average of the two methods; RON and MON (Motor Octane Number). You will see this on the pumps labeled as such: (RON + MON)/2. Because the MON test is more severe it will predict an Octane number that is much lower than the RON method. The diffence between the two numbers can be as much as 10 to 12 points.

I think that this is actually the diffence that you are seeing.

There is one 76 station with 100 octane at the pump here in San Jose. Everywhere else it is 91.

There are at least two different methods of determining octane rating: Research method, and Motor method. What is posted on the pumps in the USA is the average of those two methods (R + M) / 2.

How is it done in Sweden?
