WHAT HAPPENED TO RAREWAGON.ORG ?

Don't know where they went but if they're gone it's a bummer. Theres not enough wagon "stuff" out there. There for awhile alot of the magazines were all talking about how popular the wagons had become, but it doesn't seen like theres much "new blood" on the scene anymore. When was the newest article written or the latest photos posted before they went away? I'll bet that it had been awhile. I don't want to throw rocks because I'm just as guilty as anyone (I could post more wagon Q&A)but when was the last time you saw new pictures of wagons with write-ups in the WAGONS section of T/C. I quit going in there, it's all stale. JimN, I do like your 64? Nice looking car. I don't remember the owners name but they called they're car Murphy, Murphy's looking good too. I've been doing a frame off of a 64 2dr for about two years now. Don't work on it much in the summer due to family activities and have been slow getting back to it lately due to other responsibilities, but she's still out in the shop warm and dry waiting, I'll get there. When I started the car I was all excited to post pictures and write about what I had done since the previous post. I asked the person in charge of the wagon forum at the time if he'd like some new material for that forum, at the time I got the feeling that it didn't really matter. He didn't share my enthusiasm which was a bit of a shock coming from a fellow wagon owner. I still love my wagon but never wrote one article or posted a single picture. See, I'm just as guilty as the next guy for not posting more Wagon Stuff. I'll tell you this though, I do enjoy the stuff other people write about wagons.WagonBGone,I zoomed in on your post. It's getting late guys, G'Night.

Rarewagons went off the air about a year ago. The fellow who set it up and ran it found it too time consuming in light of other areas of his life. He said he would turn it over to anyone who cared to run it but when I asked to take it over I never received a response.

The legacy of the Rarewagons.org site is a Rarewagons discussion group on Yahoo. Do a quick search to find us and join the group. It's been quiet for some time but we e-mail each other fairly regularly to find parts or ask/answer questions about these oh-so-cool wagons.

I did not know a wagons section here on TC was underway but I'm looking forward to it.

it doesn't seen
like theres much "new blood" on the scene anymore.Personally, I think its because the prices for wagons went up way too much...

Wagons were touted as a hot new trend because they were less expensive than 2-door versions, something a "family man" could afford to buy, and still have a classic car, and maybe a bit of a hot rod... But the last few years it seems as if wagons almost caught up to 2-doors, price wise (not SS but Malibu 2-door prices). Sure, maybe a little lower, but usually did not seem to be too much of a difference.

Hey Pete . . .I can send you some info on my 1970 wagon, hopefully it will help fill the pages.

Hey MAX, you're in Salem too. I think I recall meeting you awhile back, rented one of your trailers (???) to haul yet another project Chevelle home a few years back. What kind of wagon do you have???

Hey Pete, Big thanks for stepping up to the plate to run the wagon section. We've been reading your posts for years and value your commitment to this place. Your sence of humor is also an added bonus. In your sig. Location: Northern Virginia, in a van down by the river! That cracks me up. Stuff like keeps the posts from reading like a medical text book, dry. On your car projects it seems like you're always doing something a little "left of center",and trying or building new stuff. For a "Thank You" for taking on the wagon section, let me know if there is any help you may need on a prototype or production project you have going. "Momma says I fix stuff real good" E-mail me your phone number, we'll talk about capabilities.
GENE!!! The man with a memory. That probably was my trailer. Blue? Creative Steel? South Salem? Yip, that's me. I live on Hawthorne, between State and Center. Call the shop (316-1811) I'll invite you over for a burger and a beer, that way you'll qualify for the "friends discount" on trailer rental. The keg just ran out, but we know where they sell full ones.
Peace guys, thanks for the ray of hope :D MAX

There was a beauty on the cover of the local automotive paper 'Old Autos' here in southern Ontario in the January 19th issue. It was a beautiful stocker '64 300 2-dr. It was turquoise with a 283 & Muncie 4-speed, dog dish caps. Stock or modified, it's all good by me.

thanks, Max for the genuine heartfelt welcome and thank you, that is a very kind offer, i will keep it in mind. i have been very busy getting stuff together for the site. i will put up a first run soon and expect to be updating it often. it is time consuming an my 8 month preganent wife wants all my attention graemlins/angry.gif graemlins/boring.gif so what mamma wants mamma gets, but it is comming together and so far there is no shortage of info. hang in there all, i value everyones input for this site and i am sure it will come together very well cover all bases and hopefully be very educational and not humorless and boaring. i feel like a senator. "I will make this a page of the people, by the people and for the people!" :D

Glad to here the wagon section is getting some new attention. I really missed rare wagon when it went away. There was an amazing amount of cars and parts all in one place. I think Alrien Burg still loves wagons he just got busy with family so hope to see him here.
