hi sorry for posting in the wrong area i just need help quick... I cant get the huts off the power boost that holds it to the firewall.. theres no rust on them they just wont budge.. Ive sprayed them down with all kinds of stuff still nothing.. I can feel them start to strip when i use a wrench so i back off. Ive read to use heat but the area is so tight and theres wires running behind mine so im not sure if i should do that.. Laslty how do you remove the push rod from the bracket that holds it to the brake pedel.. Theres this clip thats on the threads do i brake it off??

Thanks a bunch

Dan

Don't unscrew the brake rod under the dash. There's a pin that goes through the brake pedel. On one end of the pin there is a sheet metal "keeper" Pop the keeper off and then the pin will come out of the u-shaped part on the end of the brake rod.
Use a good 6-point wrench and not a 12-point wrench on the booster nuts. Guessing that's why they are stripping on you.

i stripped a few of mine last year. Use a good penetrating oil and also a good quaility wrench. I ended up having to take my hood off and used a hammer and special chisel to break one off. That project lasted like 3 days. I feel for ya!

thanks for all the help.. having the hood off would make it alittle more easyer to get at it, but i bet trying to take a hood off yourself can be a little tricky

you would be better off taking out the inner fender
and definatly use a six point wrench
these bolts are normally very tight

heres a stupid question coming.. 6pts wrench.. is that a socket or is that more like a crows foot??

A six point is a true Hexagon (6 points) and will fit on the nut with more contact area to reduce "rounding over" the nut. A 12 point doubles the combinations of getting the socket (or wrench) on in tight quarters, but at the sacrifice of contact area on the nut.

You can purchase a single wrench with a 6 point box end on one end, open end on the other, from any good auto parts or tool store. I bought one from NAPA a month ago, because I rounded some brake backing plate nuts with my 12 point box end. The 6 point held and did the job for me. I wouldn't be without that wrench now that I see how well it works.
