Hi guys,

Can someone please tell me how to remove the bracket behind the license plate / gas filler on a '66? There are what look like enormous rivets that are holding this thing onto the bumper. I destroyed 2 bits trying to drill one of them out! Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

George- there are a bunch of ways that i would do it but they all involve air tools. you could get a cut-off wheel and cut the tops then beat out with chisel. you could be a die grinder and grind them. you could be a saw-zaw and cut them off. or even if you have an electric grinder, just grind down flat and beat out with a punch and hammer. hope that helps. ps my 67 lemans had bolts from the factory so i did not have that problem. you could always go back with bolts but would not be factory original if that is what your after.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I figured that grinding & knocking them out would be the only way. I will probably replace them with some kind of bolts. You won't really see them with the plate back on.

Thanks again!
