I need any and all info on what I need to buy to switch from R 12 to 134 freon. I do know about the PAG oil and the o-rings plus I have a new drier. Any and all info would make a proud 72 Chevelle owner very happy. Thanks

Sounds like you got most everything. replace the o rings, install the drier, vacumn the system for a good long while, then charge the system. Get in car and drive and enjoy the air, i know I will in my 72 wagon just as soon as the motor jumps in it.

I have even done them without doing the drier. They first claimed you had to do every o-ring, yada, yada, yada. Bull. All I did was to replace the o-rings that were accessed easily, installed the compatible refrigerant oil supplied with the changeover kit, and the valves. We did so many of these it would be hard to count them, and never had a single problem. PS, yes I was ASE Master certified, lol. It is a little tougher now to work on AC stuff (legally) without the certification on AC systems.

If you are going with R134a, do it right. Change the o rings, oil, draw a proper vacuum. And make sure it holds. Above all else change the drier. It is a sponge for moisture but still can hold only so many 'water droplets'. Anything over that recirculates in the system and will very quickly cause problems. It is like anything else in your rebuild/restoration. Do it right the first time, or redo it later.
And it should be done by a professional that knows what they are doing.

Replace the orings,do yourself a favor buy the flush about $12 a can two will do flush the condensor and the evaporator this will get the old oil out and replace the dryer they are only designed to last 7yrs.I will be corected im sure and yes you can drain the system evacuate it and fill with out all this, but down the road you might have problems.I myself have seen this done by people who are not going to keep the car but if you plan on keeping it I would do a little extra.
I do these convertions about 75 times every summer and the one's who chose not to follow this always complane about the car.
