Help! When I bought my 70 Chevelle someone had replaced the headliner and put back the dome light housing with 1 screw up thru the middle of the housing assembly after cutting both wires. This prevented the dome light from having any electrical leads or contacts. I purchased a new assembly from OPG but now I am stumped as to how the assembly screws into the roof? Is there a bracket missing? There are two screw holes in line about an inch and 1/2 apart in the roof rib, but there are 4 srew holes in the housing. Tell me what I am not seeing here??

Only use tow holes, diagnally, into the rood crossmember. I don't know if OPG's assembly is the same as the one I got from NPD, but if it is, don't forget to pull down the bulb tabs from the unit before you install it. Otherwise it won't fit flush on the roof rail, and the bulb won't go in.

if you are carefull,
and you have a good idea where the dome light goes, use a soft chaulk and circle the dome light
housing itself on the headliner.
then you can "cheat" buy cutting more of the fabric of the headliner.
be very carefull !!
never cut all the way :/
then carefully look , maybe with a
flashlight between the headliner fabric
and the roof with out tearing the fabric!!!
then you might see the 2 holes (front and rear)
where the dome light screws into
sound simple enough? smile.gif
then clean off chaulk then install assembly.

I don't know what you mean by tow holes, I have never heard that term? Both the housing that came with the car, and the one from OPG are the same and I know the one that came with the car is from Ground Up. Great idea about marking the assembly and cutting away some headliner. I have already used the flashlight approach but only see the two holes I spoke about. I am confused as to why there are 4 holes in a block shape in the base of the housing. The are about 2 +3/4 inches apart in width and 2+1/4 inches front to back.Maybe the light isn't centered real good...Can someone measure their light and tell me if it is centered from both sides of the headliner or not? Thanks for replying!!!!!

Wynnsme,

"Tow" probably was intended to be "two." tongue.gif
