Is a running 66 283 out of my wagon worth much? It has ps, alt, ans AC brackets. It is a 2bbl had good oil pressure the water pump is shot. Exhaust manifolds and all are there. Just pulled it a couple of weeks ago. What would it go for?

Before pulling the 283 out of our 65 I wired it up and got it running. That weekend I had my son wear a billboard around his neck advertizing the engine at one of our local car swap meets ( that was before he got to be 6-5 and could squash me like a bug) That Sunday we had a guy come by and listen to it and we sold it for $450.00 engine and PG. I was very happy with that deal. graemlins/hurray.gif

I was thinking $300 for it minus the pulleys and ps, alt, and ac brackets. With the PG tranny I don't think it would be a bad deal. What do you think?

I doubt if the PG adds anything to the sale. I had a perfectly good glide that I literally could not give away. It went out with the trash. $300 for a running engine is a fair deal.

the powerglide may get some interest from some racers, unless it's easier to go get an already modified one.... other than that, the PG is probably only useful for the car it came out of if you wanted a #s matching, 100% correct restoration.

Got $5.00 for my glide and the guy raced over to get it. He was so happy to get it. He thought I was pulling a fast one on him. It did run and he needed it for his truck to go to work.
Wife always told me never to put parts in the paper as "Free". People won't call. They think it's garbage you are trying to dump. If you list them at $5.00 they think it's a mis-print and the calls come in.
