Can anyone confirm or show proof if a 70 chevelle
with an LS6 did or did not come with air conditioning? :confused:

you could not get a/c on any solid lifter car from gm.

Is there any documentation anywhere . What was the reason you could'nt get air on solid lifter engines?

LS6 & L78 no A/C. Think it was do to the higher rpm of the solid lifter engines.

I'd go out on a short limb and say ANYTHING was possible if it was approved by the central office, but as far as proof I have an AMA Specifications sheet for 1970 L78 and LS6 engines and it states, "Air Conditioning not available". Also have a 1966 "Options and Accessories when installed by Chevrolet" list that, under Air Conditioning, Four-Season that it's "Not available when 375-hp engine is ordered."

I also suppose that since there was a dealer-installed "GM-Chevrolet Air Conditioning" available for almost any year (the under dash type) that it would be possible for one or more of those to get installed.

If a person were to find an A/C LS6, L72, L78 or L89 they could name their price.

ANYONE NEAR CHICO, CALIFORNIA WILLING TO LOOK AT A CAR FOR A 2nd OPINION. CAR LOOKS OK BUT PHOTOS SOMETIMES DON"T SHOW EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.
