Does anybody have any input on this ebay Chevelle?:

I am impressed with the documentation and the general condition, but am curious as to why there have been no bids on this seemingly decent vehicle.

Thanks,
Sam

Maybe bidders are waiting until a few seconds before the end of the auction to place a bid, so as not to start a bidding war.

Its a bit more modified for my tastes, I'm a nut and bolt resto guy. If you are looking for a car that is correctly restored, this car has some minor issues.

With that said, if you are looking for a nice '69 to drive and enjoy and you don't care if the details are correct, this is a nice car. Ask the seller to email pictures of the documentation and the trim tag on the firewall. It never hurts to verify this stuff.

If the body and paint were done nice, then go for it!

I agree with Rick.. with a BUY IT NOW price of $25K, it's not worth bidding right now and starting the bid war.. wait to the very end and you may get lucky. Nice car, not a show winner, but a good cruise night car or good starting point to improve upon. Of course seeing it in person, may show a different car ;)

Good input. I would never buy a car sight unseen. CO is not too far from AZ. From what I can see this car could be made "correct" with relatively little effort and that is impressive documentation (if it is real) for a 69 Chevelle.

Thanks,
Sam

Daytona Yellow with a Black vinyl top is my favorite color combination for 1969 behind Lemans Blue. Just imagine how the appearance of this car would change with a Black "side stripe"

Interior definitely needs some work, probably new seat covers and carpeting. Engine mods don't bother me too much, especially with a lot of the stock stuff included.

If this indeed has the original engine, and the body and paint condition is very good, value in the $20-25K range is right on the money I think.

Hope this helps Sam, good luck.

Yep if it had the black side stripes it would look 100% better.
Now if they would loose that Ford starter solenoid too.....

Here's vote #3 for the black side stripe graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Dean,

I think that's a fuel pressure regulator you see mounted on the inner fender. Your comment really caught my attention because when I bought my old yellow 69 convert 4 years ago, it did have a Ford solenoid mounted on the pass side inner fender graemlins/sad.gif

Looks like a nice clean ride to me too guys. It doesn't surprise me that it's not exactly up to our standards. But as with most of the nice cars we bring to each others attention it's not that far away. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Hi guys, I was just wondering if you noticed that the engine in the pictures of this ground up is a 350 cu in. engine?

The way you handle something like this is to bid to be successful, but qualify the bid with the seller to meet an inspection criteria. For 25k, you spend the minimal amount of money for planefare / travelfare. If the car is misrepresented, walk away from the deal. If it is correct, take it home. There is no legal obligation to have to complete a purchase on a misrepresented item. By the same token, it is very unprofessional to back out of a deal and leave a seller hanging out there with costs that he will have to incur. This is how I handled my sale last summer of my '68 Shelby Conv. clone. Prior to the close of the auction, I advised the potential buyer that I would reimburse his planefare (Texas to Pa) and would not hold him liable if the vehicle was not the caliber I had advertised. It was a no-lose opportunity for him. He came up from Dallas, I picked him up at the airport, brought him to the house and let him go over the car with a fine tooth comb. He drove away with the car 2 hours later and has been driving the car weekly since. In fact we still talk regularly.

That my friends is the "art of the deal".

I don't know much about big blocks but do they have the oil dipstick on the passenger side of the motor?

How strange. I've lived here for quite a while and I've never seen this car once either driving, at a show, or at the drag strip here. G.J. isn't that big of a town either...

Very clean car though and impressive documentation. I haven't seen it in the local classifieds yet though.
