Im repainting my car, and changing the hood... The new hood (not new, just new to me) is on sawhorses now, with some filler to smooth it out (did the fog thing with black spray paint) ..I sprayed the whole hood with an epoxy primer after cleaning and sanding it smooth. I then noticed a couple low spots and some chips, which I fixed...now I assume I have to prime those spots again before the base coat? I tried spraying on a little base coat at the back of the hood (its black) to see how it looked, and I got hundreds of little pock marks, where the gray primer shows...what happened?? I cleaned it first before spraying it...but I didnt use a sealer, should I have??? I havnt run into this before, but last time it was a complete paint job over high build primer, and everything went on smooth...not so smooth this time around. John

Them thar l'il pock marks are "fisheyes". Either the surface wasn't clean, the primer is contaminated or you have oil in your air line.

To be safe, you should completely resand the primer and reshoot a medium coat of primer. If you are using a 2K urethane or epoxy primer, no sealer should be necessary.
