I am finally going to be ordering some of these HAL QA1 shocks for the rear of my 67 Chevelle. Does anyone have these? It is just the shock, not the coil over kit..Any input before I make the purchase.. these are expensive..Thanks..Any input would be great..By the way, any thoughts for shocks for the front end?

I am not too fimilar with the HAL QA1's but we use the QA1 (the reds ones that you can rebuild)on our race cars (oval and a few street cars). I really like the rebuildable shocks, we re-valved them a few times to get the best bite we could. We ran 7" 3-5 valving on a 406 with a small blower, still couldn't hook all the way up but we did notice a difference from the KYB gas charged that we had. :D
We used a 3 on the compression for launching to allow for some weight transfer and the 5 on rebound to keep the wheels on the ground if it tries to wheel hop. I am not too big on what the drag guys use. We were happy with the street performance.

I beleieve you are talking about Star stocker QA1 adjustable shocks that replace your stock shocks ...... excellent for street / strip cars very adjustable ..... I and others here have them on our cars ..... fronts will not fit through the hole in the stock 66/67 control arm so you must remove control arm to install ... rears are a direct bolt on

Yes I am talking just about the shocks...Where did you buy yours? I was looking at Summitt Racing and they wanted $139 each for them. Did you notice much difference in your ride? What shocks did you put up the front? Thanks

I never found a better deal than Summitt .......my car is not a daily driver cruiser so most of time set for strip use but they can be adjusted for good street ride .....IMO they are overkill for a cruiser you can get just as good a ride from say EDELbrock or like quality .....if you need adjustability for strip and street use then go QA1 they are the best if you want a good shock that you never adjust look at KYB at the low end or edelbrocks at high end ....... in my car for front i used a set of NOS factory spirals ...not the best ride but for my project works for me. hope that helps
