I need a side post battery for my 70. I would like to go with the Delco Freedom battery. What group number should I get for a 454 that originally had the T60 HD battery.

A Delco 78DT will fit in there, it has side posts and top posts (DT=dual terminals) Has plenty of cranking amps as well. Turns over my high compression big block with ease on a hot day or cold.

Syeve, just got one for my 70 LS-5...7 year GM Freedom battery, I think its group 24 770 CC amp side terminal....Cost about 79 bucks. There is talk about a repo battery coming out soon , new style inside with the old style outside...but I have not heard anything lately.
