I don't have one for a 70-72 chevelle but I bet the layout is in the Assembly manual, available from parts vendors like our sponsor www.ss396.com (http://www.ss396.com) or others like Year One, Paddock Parts, True connections, etc.
HTH and good luck!

You should have an outer door that fits on the hood with some small brackets. They will only fit one way, so you should be able to figure that out.

The inner door flap is about the same, but I think it screws directly into the inside of the cowl scoop.

There is a vacuum check valve that goes to a vacuum solenoid that mounts on the hood and opens the flap under hard acceleration. Hook other end to manifold vacuum. Engine off flap will stay up, and it will close when you start engine. Don't expect it to open unless the engine is under load and you step on it.

There is an electric solenoid that opens the inner flap door. This door can be kept off if you don't care that it doesn't look original. The solenoid is connected to a switch that goes next to your gas pedal. If you have a TH400, it is also your kickdown switch for the tranny.

Hope that helps - good luck!

There is a whole section in the assembly manual just on the cowl induction setup. It shows every little part and how it hooks together. It's really not as complicated as it seems once you see it all together in the pictures.
