: Problems with 1970 1/4 window fuzzies?

Hey everyone,

I installed my outside window molding fuzzies. Or at least I tried to. They're the Repops correct style pieces. Problem is they don't seem to want to work with the window contours on the rear 1/4 windows. On the vertical portion (backside edge) of the window rails, there's a strip of metal that protrudes about 1/8-1/4 inch toward the car...and I've tried to make the fuzzies conform to that abrupt "step" but they look like crap, and the window doesn't seal properly anymore. There's also a gap between the window's lip and the fuzzy at the corner of the window. I take it a few of you have had this problem. Any ideas? I wish I had a pic, but the car's in Milwaukee.

Any help would be great!!

Tony,I had the same problems with the same kit when I installed them on my 4 speed car..fit was crappy on the 1/4 windows..I dealt with it the best I could by drilling a few extra holes to secure them, but they're not perfect. On my SS454,I put used ones on from a 1972 Skylark that where MINT.Original GM,and they fit perfect.

I used the PUI "original" ones and had the same problem. I very carefully had to screw and bend to get the lower corner to seal. On one side I even had to use some strip caulk for extra protection against leaking. Good Luck.

Jeez, I totally forgot I posted this! I guess that's what happens when the car is 2000 miles away http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

Hmm, I sure don't like the way it looks on the car. I noticed the originals had more thickness on the inside edge that seals against the flange. It's ridiculous that they call these repros "original style".

At least I'm not the only one with this problem. Thanks guys.
