I tried to install my cowl hood on my 70 the other day, and I am using different hinges than before, and I can not seem to make it line up correctly.
When my hood is fully open, the back corners of the hood are way uneven heighth and distance from the back of the fenders. One side is about a 1/4" above the top of the fenders, and the other is below it about an inch. When I shut the hood the alighnment is correct, and I have tried many ways of adjusting the hinges to make it shut even, but this is the only way I can get it aligned. Also when the hood is open, only one side of the hinges 'top out'. Can someone peek under their hood and let me know if there is even or not when the hood is fully raised?
Also when I shut it, the hood seems to move to one side, so when it is open, it is very close to my drivers side fender, where if I open it quickly it may scratch the side and top of the fender.
If I look how the hinge bolts to the fender, the passenenger side has no gap the entire length of the fender between the bolts, but the driver side has a little gap, which makes me think either the fender or the hinge is slightly bent? Any help would be great, as this is the last thing I need to do before I can drive this tree year project!
