Hi All. Do I understand that all 200 Z16 cars were made all at one time with concecutive serial numbers all in the same plant? Or over a period of time?

I honetly doubt they were consecutive; Leeds wouldn't hold up the production line to built them in order. All production Z16s were built at the KC plant, and at least two prototypes/pre-production were built at Baltimore. This one (http://www.chevellestuff.com/65velle/gallery/prototype_z16.jpg), owned by Terry Gunter, is a pre-production Z16 from Baltimore.

The one convertible, depending on who's research you read, was reportedly (1) a special order one-off for Semon (Bunky) Knudsen and sold/scrapped later on by another owner, or (2) a styling project from one of GMs specialty workshops and was suppose to be triple gold.

As far as I know, nobody has ever shown proof positive of its existance, much less if it was included in the production run. Sure wish someone would produce some photos and documentation to back it up.

I read a rumor somewhere that 1 elcamino was built also. Has anyone ever heard this? I have`nt seen anything else about it since I read it and I can`t remember where I saw it.

And wasn't there a member in Mich. (Tom Lassater?) who claimed to have ridden shotgun in the ragtop?
