Here is the situation - Need a rebuild - Cash tight. Help decide where to spend money best. Have a mild 396 street engine and want good reliable performance. Right now I am running a 650 holley dp. stock high rise intake, headers, 350 trans with shift kit, 331 posi.Need opinions on what things in a rebuild are a must( certain bolts/retainers, balancing etc. ) or add ons like a new carb or intake, valve train items :D

Nancy...uh err...not that kind of bang??? :D Internal parts on a rebuild, external parts can always be changed later. ARP bolts and balancing would be a good place to start, new oil pump.

Rapid ok poor choice of words. Good thought of thinking internals first. Sometimes the obvious escape me! What is the diff between balancing & blueprinting to the engine?

balincing makes sure every thing has equal weight........and then blueprinting is just writing down the weight of your pistons and rods and stuff...... the blueprinting would be a waist id spend the money on the balancing.......
