I need some help from all you guys with 70 and 72 chevelles. Theres the deal one of my chevelles got hit the rear and I am replacing both quarters and the piece that goes inbetween the quarters and the rear bumper bolts to it.nowfor the help part..I need a measurement from one end of the drip rail to the other end. Where I need my measurement is the is the inside of the drip rail on the top by the trunk hinges down to the bottom drip rail where the two sides of the drip rails meet. Where I am taking my measurements is right agaist the inside of the hinge towards the inside of the trunk down to the bottom about a 1/4 of inch to the inside where the two drip rails meet. I hope this isnt to confusing I cant get any pictures to come up and help out with the description but if anyone out there can help me out just alittle it would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help...Eric

Mine measures 24-3/4 in. inside to inside, assuming that you are refering to the trunk opening from front to back. Hope this helps.

This won't help with the car, but I just wanted you to know people are reading. My son's 70 is at his auto shop or I would measure for you.
Good Luck

I'd like to help. My 70 (with the original quarters) is 15 feet away from me right now. But, I can't figure out what you're asking. Could you re-state the question? I'll check back tomorrow (Sunday) evening.

Ok the measurement I need is the opening of the trunk from drip rail to drip rail. The drip rail I am talking about is the piece that goes around the seal. Now I need the measurement from the top drip rail the one nearest the back window, down to the bottom drip rail near the rear bumper. Now as for the bottom drip rail right were the two pieces meet..the one that runs vertically along the quarter it meets up with another piece of drip rail that runs across the bottom. From this point were the two pieces meet measure over about a 1/4 of an inch I do this to get away from the curve in the drip rail and get to a straighter section of the drip rail. Now measure the distance from the top to the bottom. Just run a tape measure from the inside of the top drip rail...with the tape maesure butted up next to the decklid hinge down to point on the bottom drip rail on the inside. Hope this is a little better desricption but kinda hard to explain so please bear with me.
Thanks for the help its much appreciated...Eric

Gottcha, I get 25 & 1/2" inside to inside the drip rails. It's 25 & 15/16" if you're including the width of the rails. I measured both sides just to be sure they're the same, they are. This is from an all original car, never wreaked.
